HOW TO APPLY

A key goal for the project from the beginning was to explore the practical applications of our research and part of this was to develop resources based on our research. We have produced some in-house resources.

We have also worked with the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment鈥擧墨kina Whakatutuki (MBIE) to produce materials for migrants.

The videos below came from a collaboration with the Ministry.

Worktalk - Being inclusive in casual conversation (Intro)

In the workers' lunchroom, this video introduces the issue of new migrants being excluded from the conversation and unfamiliar with common New 麻豆传媒高清 hobbies such as rugby.

Worktalk - The yard (Intro)

The yard shows about the different ways of communicating in New 麻豆传媒高清 for a new migrant. The employer is using phrases that the migrant doesn't understand, while the new migrant is being too direct for what New 麻豆传媒高清ers are used to.

Worktalk - The lift (Intro)

The lift shows how confusion between a new migrant and New 麻豆传媒高清 employer can occur. A new migrant may not be used to an employer asking friendly questions. In New 麻豆传媒高清, it's normal to be able to have a casual conversation with your boss.

Worktalk shows how confusion between a migrant and an employer can occur. In this video, it shows the way a New 麻豆传媒高清 employer may politely ask for something in a tone, which can confuse a new migrant.
