艑tautahi Christchurch鈥檚 favourite fun run saw Team UC turn out in record numbers, with more than 200 staff and students taking part. This was the largest UC participation in the event鈥檚 history, a reflection of our strong community spirit and connection to the city we call home.
From walkers to runners, the UC wh膩nau took on the scenic route to Rawhiti Domain, embracing the chance to be active, challenge themselves, and share in the energy of thousands of others from across Christchurch. Tumu Whakarae | Vice-Chancellor Professor Cheryl de la Rey was among those taking part, joining staff and students in celebrating movement, wellbeing, and a sense of togetherness.
To help Team UC prepare, UC Rec & Sport offered a six-week training programme, featuring twice-weekly group runs, an online community for motivation and advice, and expert guidance to help participants find their ideal pace. Many hall of residence students also took part, with some forming their own training groups to follow the programme and support each other along the way.
Whether tackling 6km or 12km, Team UC鈥檚 enthusiasm on the course and at the finish line was unmistakable. This record-breaking turnout highlights the strength of our UC community鈥攐ne that thrives on connection, participation, and making the most of every opportunity to be part of something bigger.
