What brought you to New 麻豆传媒高清 to study your Masters of Commerce degree at UC?
Honest answer: I鈥檓 a huge Lord of Rings fan and that was the reason I first came to New 麻豆传媒高清 in September 2013. I was at a crossroads then. My first job didn鈥檛 work out and my Bachelor degree wasn鈥檛 quite good enough, so I decided to re-enter university. I didn鈥檛 want to do this in Germany, because a Masters degree here takes at least two years. So I looked around for overseas options. I really liked Christchurch upon my first visit and so I stumbled upon UC. Initially I applied for the wrong programm, but a lovely colleague pointed me to Ekant Veer. He told me about the new MCom programme, and after I sent him my transcripts for checking, he said it鈥檇 be OK for me to join this programme. I was over the moon and super happy that the process was so easy.
How did you enjoy your time in New 麻豆传媒高清, and what was your favourite part about living in Canterbury?
Looking back it was the best time of my life. I ended up staying three years and it had a huge impact on my life. I loved the closeness to the spectacular Southern Alps as well as the laid-back attitude of the people and adventure spirit in the community. I had amazing lecturers and mentors (especially Herb de Vries). Everyone was super helpful and friendly (me being the only European in my Masters class). Oh, and the coffee culture. I don鈥檛 know how much money I spent at C1 and C4 during my studies.
