Donald Paterson was born in Timaru, and developed an interest in art as a teenager. He has been producing sculpture on commission since 1993. His commissions have included awards for Air New 麻豆传媒高清, the NZRFU, and the Auckland Warriors. Other public sculptures by Paterson may be seen throughout Canterbury at the Fendalton Public 麻豆传媒高清 in Christchurch, the Akaroa Harbouside Park in Akaroa, and the Old Harbour Site in Timaru.
